Power Steering Overlooked?

Power SteeringPower steering is certainly the most overlooked of all a car's systems that require regular servicing. It is a sophisticated hydraulic mechanism incorporating a pump, drive belts, bearings, valve, hoses and seals

The power steering pump operates continuously whenever the car's engine is running. The constant rotation of the pump produces microscopic metal particles which are circulated continuously throughout the system, causing constant wear not only to the pump, but also to other components such as the bearings, seals, valves and piston.

The servicing involves inspection of the power steering fluid, hoses, connections, clamps, drive belt and hose routing.

The pump is checked for mechanical operation, correct belt alignment and operation and all pump and rack mounts are inspected and secured.

Supa Steering Auto Transmission

Supa Steering Automatic Transmission Methodology

We service your automatic transmission to high standards.

Service Preparation:
1. We clean the transmission case to pan abutment face to ensure dirt does not enter the transmission.
2. Make sure the working area is clean and free from dust.
3. The transmission should be warmed to normal operating temperature by running the engine at idle RPM.

Draining the Transmission Fluid:
1. Lift vehicle on hoist or jack to free working height with safety stands.
2. Place container (at least 6 litre capacity) under the transmission to collect fluid.
3. Remove drain plug (caution: transmission fluid can reach extremely high operating temperatures, use care to avoid burns).
4. Remove oil pan carefully and drain remaining fluid.
5. Clean pan removing old gasket material and any deposits resulting from normal wear (discard old pan gasket).
